Robert Gibbs Gives Me the Perfect Birthday Present

First of all-
Thank You Robert Gibbs!

Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs defended the President's visit to Notre Dame, citing the overwhelming support of students and Catholics. In particular, Gibbs referred to 23 student groups that have supported the President. I wonder who they are??? Check out these clips I found below (click to enlarge). I am so glad that our work is being used as supporting evidence by the White House. How awesome. LEFTY'S WIN!

Wow, I can't believe you support Obama, way to promote the war in Afghanistan. So much for the innocent unborn babies, why don't you just come out and support the death by bombing of innocent Afghanis. You disgust me you statist pig!

Duh, didn't you hear, Jeff? We're all getting together on Sunday morning to personally abort some fetuses (Feti? lol), you know... just like George W. Bush used to do during his presidency... oh, wait a minute, that's right, a president has almost no control over the abortion issue.

And yeah, those abortions didn't count, because Bush had the sense to lie to all the small minded fundamentalists who were stupid enough to believe his "pro-life" rhetoric while enacting policies that increase unplanned pregnancies and left single mothers and children hung out to dry. And then there's also that little war in Iraq.

:)

Sham,

I'm pretty sure you completely missed my point. There's also that little war in Afghanistan. It's wonderful how progressives write letters into the Observer criticizing the CIA and Raytheon for showing up on campus and hold anti-war ralies but at the same time support Obama.

I don't think I wrote anything praising Bush in my earlier comment. Bush and Obama are equally loathsome in my eyes. Somehow though among the progressives, George Bush is the devil but Obama is a saint while he ramps up the war in Afghanistan. I wish someone on the left could explain this "minor" inconsistency.

If he's going to talk numbers, he shouldn't say that there's only one opposition group, since NDResponse is formed by multiple groups. (And were those 23 groups really "formed in support of the invitation", the way NDResponse was formed against it, or were they formed for other reasons and just happen to endorse it?)

If 8 years of a Bush presidency leaves you seeing Bush and Obama as equally loathsome, I suggest you visit an eye doctor, pronto!!!

As far as Afghanistan, I'm mixed on what I think should be done there right now, but I find it hilarious that you think you can compare that to Iraq. Iraq was a neo-conservative pipe dream. Afghanistan (particularly the Afghan/Pakistan border region) is probably one of the biggest national security threats that exists right now.

As far as the 23 groups are concerned, they weren't formed in support of the invitation, they (most if not all as far as I recall at the moment) were existing student groups that decided to formally declare their support, showing the broad base support of the larger student body as opposed to the fringe that chooses to associate themselves with whack jobs like Randall Terry and Alan Keyes.
